Abstract
The document which appears on the following pages was apparently submitted by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to the International Organization for Standards (ISO) in February 1977, where it is officially referenced as ISO/TC 97/SC6N1403. The document has also been redistributed by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 6.1 as INWG Protocol Note 69. Additional work along these lines is continuing within the "Ad Hoc Datagram Group of ANSI X3537", which apparently intends to produce a Draft ANSI Datagram Standard for submission to ISO in November. The Editor of the ANSI Ad Hoc Datagram Group is Mr. W. L. Elden of NCR Corp. The chairman of ANSI X3537 ("Public Data Networks") is Mr. H. C. Folts of National Communications System.
