U.S. water infrastructure needs infusion, report notes

Abstract

Aging water and wastewater infrastructure in the United States will threaten public health, as well as the health of rivers, lakes, and coastlines, unless the federal government provides cities, counties, and other local water agencies with a major influx of funding, according to a new report released by the Water Infrastructure Network (WIN).The report, “Water Infrastructure Now: Recommendations for Clean and Safe Water in the 21st Century” calls for a federal investment of $57 billion over 5 years to maintain and upgrade drinking water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure.
