Abstract

The U.S. Virgin Islands' tourism industry remains static while the industry in the Caribbean has been growing. The depreciation of the U.S. dollar will attract larger numbers of Canadians and Europeans as well as U.S. visitors to other areas of the Caribbean for beach holidays, but it may not help the U.S. Virgin Islanders unless government and private industry development encourages visitors to come and stay in hotels while also welcoming cruiseship passengers.
