Abstract

Amid the neo-conservative Bush Administration’s efforts to find evidence that linked Iraq to Al-Qaeda and the 9/11 attack, some US officials misled the American public into believing that Iraq was a serious threat to US national security and to the whole international community. One of the key pieces of evidence cited by some US officials is an editorial published inNassiriah newspaper, whose distribution was mainly limited to Nassiriah city. Its author, Naeem ‘Abd Muhalhal, a literary figure from the Sabaean religion, wrote a fantastical literary account in which he prophesied that Osama Bin Laden might attack the USA.
