Abstract

The US military used facial recognition to identify slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, according to a Reuters report. This comes as the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) criticised the US army for operating a non-standard army biometric collection device that means the US Department of Defense (DoD) is not able to transmit biometric information it collects automatically to other agencies such as the FBI.
