Abstract

Environmental concerns about hydropower generation have garnered significant US media attention in recent months. The hydropower industry, however, describes hydropower as a clean, renewable energy source that is more environmentally friendly than most-power generation methods. Hydropower advocates further emphasize that in our digital society, high electricity demands necessitate using a variety of generation methods to ensure grid stability. The debate has escalated recently as a result of a few key events. Cathy Swirbul takes a closer look.
