Abstract

URTeC 2014, the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference, was held in Denver on 25–27 August and included both pre- and postconference activities. Now in its second year, the conference has expanded to include short courses, field trips, intersociety workshops, ePapers presented in the exhibit hall, and a core exhibit showing rock from 12 unconventional plays around North America. The meeting has seven concurrent technical sessions including nontraditional formats such as team presentations, expert panel discussions, and focused state-of-the-art presentations on the geology, geophysics, and engineering aspects of unconventional resources. The exhibition floor was packed every day, with attendees absorbing every bit of information possible. The meeting has become the “Disneyworld for Unconventionals.”
