Abstract

• Prevalence of urolithiasis in AS patients is higher than healthy controls and in other chronic inflammatory diseases. • Results suggest an association between spine ankylosis and urolithiasis. • Microscopic inflammation of the intestine in AS may contribute to the increase risk of urolithiasis. • The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as treatment for AS may explain higher prevalence.
