Abstract

This one day intensive course, open to all foundation and specialist trainee doctors and held at the Royal London Hospital, focuses on the practical skills needed to cope with common urological emergencies. The course was developed several years ago in response to changing trends in surgical training. Its aim is to help candidates develop a simple and practical approach to managing urological emergencies, within the context of the multidisciplinary team. Like many other junior doctors I had relatively little opportunity to gain experience in this important specialty as a medical student or house officer.
