Abstract

Urinary excretion of amino acids was measured with an automated column chromatographic method in 18 patients with juvenile amaurotic familial idiocy. The earlier described imidazoluria in this kind of patient could not be verified in this study. Possible reasons for the results are discussed. It is concluded that imidazoluria, when existing, may be a secondary phenomenon not directly related to the primary defect.
