Abstract
The preparation of a liquid rubber formulation for both cold and hot casting of photoelastic models is explained. Membranes and thin–walled structural models are amongst the examples considered qualitatively. Suggestions are made for the development of approximate but rapid methods of analysis. Of necessity the applications outlined are based on brief trials only and further development work is required.
