Abstract

This chapter argues for urban pedagogy as a form of research and inquiry where urban experiences and the need to develop city skills are central. This is explored from a number of perspectives, such as educating the senses, bildung and the higher rate of stimuli in the city. Urban pedagogy, as it is understood here, is illustrated with a number of examples including some black and white photographic images from the 1960s. Urban pedagogy is understood to be for all age groups as a lifelong project and not necessarily limited to those of school age.
