Abstract

Urban ecology, a new sub-discipline of ecology, aims to study human-dominated ecosystems and associated global environmental changes affecting the distribution and abundance of fauna and flora in cities and towns. Citation analysis and subject classification show that urban ecology is an emerging interdisciplinary field integrated with many life sciences disciplines, environmental science, soil and water sciences, geosciences, climatology, agricultural sciences, and geography.
