Abstract

The uptake and elimination of a labelled surfactant, the nonionic nonylphenol ethoxylate, was studied in cod ( Gadus morrhua L.) exposed to a concentration of 5 ppm. The amount of labelled surfactant was analyzed by the scintillation counting method in various tissues from the fish. A penetration especially through the gills, but also some intestinal resorption was found. Eight hours from start a steady state condition was obtained.
