Abstract

This study confirms that the geological section penetrated by the Aleksandrovskaya stratigraphic test well drilled at the field research site of the Department of Geophysics of the Geological Faculty (Moscow State University) comprises Upper Devonian and Lower Carboniferous carbonate-terrigenous deposits containing abundant foraminiferal, conodont, fish, macrofloral and spore remains. A detailed lithostratigraphic description of several subdivisions identified in the study allowed reconstruction and interpretation of the Late Devonian and Early Carboniferous evolution of the southwestern Moscow basin.
