Abstract

Abstract Employing a correct theory, which is valid even when spin-orbit scattering is the dominant scattering mechanism, we find that the spin-orbit scattering times τ so required to explain upper critical fields in excess of the Chandrasekhar-Clogston limit are increased by up to a factor of 2. The difficulty existing at present that in several cases a fit to experimental data yields τ so shorter than the total scattering time is thus removed or at least reduced.
