Abstract

The amplitude of the nth harmonic component of a known waveform has upper bounds which can be derived from inspection of the waveform. By indicating when the Fourier analysis of (for example) vibratory excitations can be circumvented, this technique may usefully shorten iterative or desk-top design calculations.
