Abstract
With economic globalization, more and more local industrial clusters in developing countries chose to "Upgrade" in order to pursue the developing goal. And upgrading by insertion in global value chain is one of main ways to quickly upgrade for many local industrial clusters. But upgrading only by the insertion in the chain is risky (we call it chain-type risk). The paper first introduces global value chain and upgrading patterns and paths for local industrial clusters in developing countries, then analyses the risks facing local industrial clusters in developing countries, finally puts forward countermeasures to elude the risks.
