Abstract

Worldwide, molar-incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is estimated to have a prevalence of 13 %, which means that 900 million people are affected by the disease. It is estimated that nearly 30% of these patients will require treatment for pain, tooth hypersensitivity, or enamel defects. The use of resin-based fissure sealants, preformed metal crowns, direct composite restorations and laboratory-fabricated restorations are recommended for MIH-affected molars, even though the available evidence is poor.
