Abstract

This chapter presents an update regarding the assessment and protection of water resources in the Czech Republic. The conclusions and recommendations of the chapters presented in this book are generalized and summarized. The chapter presents a summary of the most important findings presented by the contributors to the book. Topics which are covered include water resources in the Czech Republic, including groundwater, small water reservoirs, ponds, wetlands, small bodies of water, rivers and the importance of water for different ecosystems (fauna, flora and for human with no exception). Important topics are the protection of the water resources, the role of the water in the landscape in general and with some specifics in the arable lands, hydrological reclamations in the landscape. Also, a set of recommendations for future research work is pointed out to direct future research towards and development of water resources in the Czech Republic.
