Abstract

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, despite having similar historical background, have borders disputes because the boundaries of their natural resources are not clear. Since these two countries were part of Soviet Union, the researchers studied the roles of Russia in the efforts to resolving the problems. In this research, qualitative method was conducted. The data were collected through library research in which the researchers used journals, books, and official websites that were relevant to the research topic. This study showed that the border conflicts between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were difficult to resolve. In resolving this conflict, Russia had tried to mediate the two countries, but in the end the conflicts remained.
