Abstract

The purpose of this classroom action research is to increase interest in and learning outcomes of Civics in the Competence of Respecting Collective Decisions for class V Semester II SD 1 Kuwukan II students in the 2016/2017 academic year. To achieve this goal, this study was designed in two cycles. The procedure in each cycle includes the following steps: 1) planning, 2) implementing the action, 3) observing, and 4) reflecting. The effectiveness of the action in each cycle was measured from the results of observations and tests. The data from the observations were described, interpreted, then reflected to determine corrective actions in the next cycle. The action research which was conducted in two cycles showed that the learning interest in the first cycle reached 72.22% while in the second cycle the students' interest in learning reached 83.33%. The results of the first cycle of action showed an increase in student learning outcomes compared to before the action 66.67% had reached completeness. The results of the second cycle of action showed an increase in learning outcomes occurred in the second cycle, namely being 91.67% who had reached mastery learning. The use of the role playing method can increase interest in and learning outcomes of Civics on Respect for Collective Decisions for fifth grade students of SD 1 Kuwukan, Semester II of the 2016/2017 academic year. Increasing interest in student learning has a positive impact on increasing student learning outcomes.
