Abstract

Speaking ability is one of the language skills that is very important to develop. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of children’s speaking ability through the use of big book media. The research used classroom action research in Kober Mentari Cimalaka District, Sumedang Regency. The sample were 14 children aged 5-6 years old. Data were collected by using observation and assignment techniques. The research showed that big books media can improve children’s speaking ability, with the evident in the first cycle of children's speaking ability reached 36% and in the second cycle reached 86%. This shows an increase of speaking ability, so that the big book media can be an alternative to develop children’s speaking ability.
