Abstract

There have been concerns in the literature about the oncological safety of the “rip and pluck” technique for nephro-ureterectomy. The advantages that it offered in decreasing surgical insult had to be balanced against the risk of local tumour recurrence and seeding of tumour cells from the urinary tract into the operative field. Has the adoption of the principles of this technique in the era of laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgery compromised outcome?
