The desideratum of this study is to evaluate the racial and identity perspective in the work of Maya Angelou, predominantly in her second autobiography. The racial and identity aspect in Gather Together in My Name, Maya Angelou's autobiographical work, will be the objective of the study. It highlights the racial encounters and identity crisis brought out by Maya Angelou. Her second autobiographical book follows the story of the author's life as a projection of American culture. It aims to look at Angelou's autobiography as just an illustration of a few of the issues that exist amongst racial groups in America, particularly concerning African-Americans who are constantly trying to find ways and establish themselves like normal citizens.
