Abstract

Researchers have presented microscopic theories on the behavior of phonons in chiral crystals, focusing on the sensitivity of phonon modes to chirality. They found the optical branches to be more sensitive than the acoustic branches and to exhibit chirality-dependent splitting. The importance of the electric toroidal monopole for characterizing splitting has also been highlighted.
