Abstract

We report the temperature dependence of electric quadrupole interaction frequency of 111Cd probe in UMn2 measured by time differential perturbed angular correlation spectroscopy. The measurements carried out in the temperature range do not show any indication of magnetic ordering. Interestingly the quadropole frequency νQ decrease at low temperatures, quite in contrast with the usual phonon associated increase observed in metals and alloys. We believe, this unusual feature may be related to dynamic lattice distortion driven by spin fluctuation.
