Abstract

1. Hyperthermia, dyspnea, jaundice, petechial purpura, and massive splenomegaly; decreased hemoglobin, MCV, and platelet count; markedly increased total bilirubin and CRP concentrations; a positive cryptococcal antigen test at high titer; positive blood cultures for Cryptococcus neoformans (C. neoformans); and a necrotic, hypocellular bone marrow with massive infiltrates of C. neoformans in a patient with a previous history of sarcoidosis.
