Abstract

The prototypical paediatric eye tumour is retinoblastoma which generally necessitates enucleation for treatment. However, for benign entities local resection may be all that is necessary. We present a classic presentation of a rare cause of orbital tumour, with less than 20 reported cases to date. Ectopic lacrimal gland tissue presents with proptosis or an abnormal looking eye, often centred in the choroid or iris, forming a localised mass of lobules of lacrimal gland acini, sometimes accompanied by cystic spaces.
