Abstract

The genetic defect of coagulation factor V known as factor V Leiden produces a resistance to degradation of factor V by activated protein C (APC) and that will increase the risk of venous thromboembolism. The data on arterial thrombosis and acute myocardial infarction associated with APC resistance are still not clearly defined. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction in young patient with no cardiovascular risk factors and the etiology of the myocardial infarction was defined as acute arterial thrombosis associated with factor V Leiden defect, without any significant coronary lesions.
