Abstract

A 3-year-old girl, during a remission phase of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, developed <i>Pneumocystis carinii</i> pneumonia. The infection was treated successfully with pentamidine, but she developed toxic epidermal necrolysis and azotemia. Acute tubular necrosis of the kidney was found at autopsy.
