Abstract
Summary The dipole moments of the compounds FMe 2 SiSiMe 3 (I), ClMe 2 SiSiMe 3 (II), FMe 2 SiSiMeF 2 (III) and [Cl 2 MeSi] 2 (IV) were determined as function of the temperature. Free rotation around the Si−Si bond was found for III. The enthalpy difference between the gauche and anti forms of IV is about 2.5 kJ mol −1 , similar as for [ClMe 2 Si] 2 . Since the dipole moments of compounds I and II are temperature independent their atomic polarisations could be determined.
