Abstract
In the case of the 6Li(d, p) 7Li reaction, where no j-dependence had been seen in the polarized angular distributions of the protons, one can see pronounced differences in the angular distributions of the vector-analysing power of the two possible l n = 1 transitions to the ground state and first excited state of 7Li. In order to extract j-values from the angular distributions of the vector-analysing power, compound nucleus effects must be discussed. Only the transition to the first excited state of 7Li seems to be free of compound nucleus effects at forward angles. Therefore, one can use in this case the angular distribution of the vector-analysing power to get j-values.
