Abstract
AbstractIn this paper, we are concerned with applying the finite element method to seek an approximate numerical solution to a class of unsteady magnetohydrodynamic flow in ducts with arbitrary cross‐section. A consistent discrete model for the MHD flow equation with a small magnetic Reynolds number has been developed via the concept of finite elements. A numerical example of MHD flow in a rectangular duct is given, and its results of velocity profiles are compared with the results obtained by other methods.
