Abstract

An analysis is made of compressible laminar boundary layer over an insulated or isothermal flat plate moving with an arbitrary time-variant velocity in a viscous fluid. Consideration is given to the small-time solution, which may be applied to the plate in the early stages of flow unsteadiness. Theoretical results are given for the velocity, temperature, skin friction, heat-transfer rate from the isothermal plate, and wall temperature of the insulated plate.
