Abstract

The authors report on single-channel, single-polarisation, 160 Gbit/s, RZ, 1.55 µm transmission over 160 km of standard fibre without inline optical amplifiers, with passive compensation of dispersion and dispersion slope, and using an optical 160 to 10 Gbit/s demultiplexer based on a hybrid Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
