Abstract

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is an important diagnosis to make as effective treatments can thereby be initiated, which will have an impact on prognosis. The ECG, as a tool of assessment, is only able to indicate the presence of prior full thickness infarcts with the presence of Q waves. Old non-Q-wave infarcts therefore can remain undiagnosed with a significant effect on mortality. Delayedenhancement cardiovascular MRI (DE-CMR) is a useful method of identifying small, subendocardial infarcts.
