Abstract

AbstractInvited for this month's cover picture is the group of Prof. Dr. Kristina Tschulik from the Ruhr University Bochum (Germany). The cover picture illustrates how the different solvent shells forming in water/alcohol solvent mixtures can be probed by single particle electrochemistry thanks to the resulting difference in diffusion speeds of the solvated ions. This effect is reflected in the time needed for the full oxidation of a single nanoparticle arriving at a microelectrode, which is limited by the halide ion transport towards the nanoparticle under suitable conditions.
