Abstract
Computer simulation is now firmly established as a third discipline of science on equal footing with experiment and theory. It has evolved from a method for validating complicated theory to a tool for making great scientific discoveries. One area of science in which computer simulation has made a significant impact is ultra-intense short-pulse laser-matter interactions.
