Abstract

Aortic root dilatation is a risk factor for dissection of the aorta and a problem in pregnancy. Marfan syndrome is associated with a connective tissue abnormality and is considered a risk for aortic dissection. In this report, three cases of Marfan syndrome are discussed. In two of these acute fatal aortic dissections; in the other case, aortic root dilatation was detected. Close echocardiographic follow-up is mandatory in pregnant women diagnosed with enlarged aortic root.
