Abstract

AbstractMilitary and civil applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are increasing at rapid pace. Appropriate communication links are required by the UAVs for their usage. High data rate wireless communication connectivity between UAV and ground station is a prerequisite for enhanced utilization of UAVs in future. In order to achieve this objective, UAVs can be used with existing cellular communication networks as aerial users. Cellular communication support to UAVs is generating new research challenges and opportunities. One way of enhancing the cellular communication support to UAVs is to use multiple antennas. In this article, we bring out the aspect of UAV cellular communications and various multiple antenna techniques used for UAV communications.Keywords5G communicationLong-term evolution (LTE)Multiple input multiple output (MIMO)
