Abstract
The idea of aesthetic education has long been present in pedagogical theories as an essential role in shaping the mind and character of the individual. Higher education in China is facing challenges in building students’ aesthetic values with cultural self-confidence under the impact of multiculturalism and cyberculture. The purpose of this paper is to explore the mode of aesthetic education based on university-museum collaboration. Through analyzing the functions of aesthetic education of museums from a Chinese cultural perspective and the challenges universities facing in aesthetic education, it proposes that aesthetic education should take mainstream Chinese culture and traditional culture as the core, incorporate resources from museums and other cultural institutions on the basis of university-museum cooperation to build a shared platform and construct an aesthetic education system with Chinese characteristics.
