University of Nairobi: Review of the Flagship Role in Higher Education in Kenya

Abstract

The African Flagship Universities Project has the purpose of thoroughly analysing selected major universities to establish the extent of their contribution to research, capacity-building, and policy-making in their respective countries and beyond. This chapter will serve the following: Document, describe, and analyse the status of the University of Nairobi since its establishment. Establish its state in research, capacity-building, and policy-making. Identify and describe its influence on the development of higher education in Kenya. Investigate its major challenges with regard to research, capacity building, and policy influences.
