Abstract

A recent suroey of the development and administration of archives in Australian universities reveals similarities with those in North America and difficulties for units in both regions. While many of the Australian archives have been developed according to the special needs of a particular university and, in some cases, of the community it seroes, they share with their United States and Canadian counterparts problems of finance, staffing, space allocation, place-: ment, and management.
