Abstract

A universal linear relation between the critical magnetic field of the metamagnetic transition at low temperature and the inverse of the susceptibility maximum, observed in many Co-based compounds, is discussed on the spin fluctuation theory for the itinerant-electron metamagnetism. It is shown that the slope of the critical field against the inverse of susceptibility maximum is just half of the induced moment at the critical point for the ferromagnetic state, which is in a good agreement with the observed results not only for Co-based compounds but also for U(Co,Fe)Al.
