Abstract

In this issue of Cancer Cell, Gao etal. map fibroblast diversity across tumors and chronic inflammatory tissues. The authors uncover universal fibroblast subtypes such as LRRC15+ and MMP1+ myofibroblasts along with specialized tissue-specific subtypes. They reveal cellular roles of fibroblasts in immunosuppression through stromal niches and cell-cell interactions.
