Abstract
Abstract This chapter discusses the history and memory of the Nanjing Massacre in the United States from 1937 to 1945. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the brutalities in Nanjing symbolized for Americans the cruelty and barbarism not just of the Japanese military, but of the Japanese people as a whole.
