Abstract
The Signal Corps Laboratories, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, have been conducting a study of cosmic data received from the Science News Service in their relation to results obtained from Signal Corps radio transmission. Unfortunately, neither the cosmic data nor the transmission‐results up to this time have been sufficiently complete to justify definite conclusions.Their method of study is to represent all data graphically on the same sheet. Certain general trends are immediately apparent from these graphs. For example, we can locate ourselves in the cycle of sunspot‐activity and have noted that the decline in this activity parallels somewhat the decline in high‐frequency transmission‐results during the past year. These transmission results have grown consistently worse in spite of the fact that many improvements have been made in the transmitted signal. At the present time we appear to be passing through the worst period in the cycle for transmission at high frequencies. Certain other less marked relations are beginning to appear.
