Abstract

In February 2020, the Federation of State Medical Boards and National Board of Medical Examiners announced that score reporting for United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 will change from numeric to pass or fail as soon as January 2022 [1]. This change has implications for stakeholders in radiology education, including residency programs, faculty, and medical students. The purpose of this commentary is to hypothesize this change’s potential effects on medical student education in diagnostic radiology.
