AbstractCommercial Banking (MIC: 8.1 SIC: 6021 NAIC: 522110)United Bankshares is a bank holding company with total assets of $6.44 billion and total deposits of $4.30 billion as of Dec 31 2004. Co. has two banking subsidiaries “doing business” under the name of United Bank. These engage primarily in community banking. Banking services include the acceptance of deposits; the making and servicing of personal, commercial, floor plan and student loans; and the making of construction and real estate loans. Co. also owns non‐bank subsidiaries which engage in other community banking services such as asset management, real property title insurance, investment banking, financial planning, and brokerage services.
